No, you can book directly with us without a referral. If you'd like to claim a Medicare rebate through an EPC Care Plan, you'll need one from your GP first. If your injury involves persistent swelling, numbness, fever, or unexplained weight loss, it's worth seeing your GP before your physio appointment in case further investigation is needed.

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy treats pain and injury affecting muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves — including back and neck pain, shoulder and knee problems, sports injuries, running-related injuries, and recovery after surgery. Whether your pain came on suddenly or has built up gradually, an assessment can identify the cause and guide the right treatment plan.

Your first session starts with a discussion of your symptoms, history and goals, followed by a physical assessment of movement, strength and function relevant to your injury. Your physiotherapist will explain what's likely going on, agree a treatment plan with you, and usually begin hands-on treatment or exercise prescription in that same visit.

This depends on the injury, how long you've had it, and how you respond to treatment — some issues improve within two to three sessions, while others need ongoing management over several weeks. Treatment typically includes hands-on therapy alongside a structured return-to-sport or return-to-running program tailored to your specific activity and goals.

Private health funds with extras cover typically rebate physiotherapy through HICAPS, processed instantly at your appointment.
